Is a CDM co-ordinator required by law? Yes, if your construction project will last more than 30 days or 500 person days and is part of a business undertaking. |

Are you a client under the CDM Regulations 2007 ? A client is an organisation or individual for whom a construction project is carried out. |

Do you need a CDM co-ordinator for your construction projects? Clients are responsible for appointing the CDMC in the case of notifiable projects, clients must appoint a competent CDM co-ordinator by planning stage. |

I am the principal contractor, do I have to make sure there is a CDM co-ordinator? The client must appoint the CDMC, you have a duty to ensure that they have been appointed. |

|
Can clients unintentionally take on additional responsibilities? Those clients without construction expertise should rely on the CDM co-ordinator’s advice on how best to meet their duties. |
